Description(s)
Pine City HOOPs will sponsor traveling league teams and in-house teams if there are sufficient numbers of participants. Traveling teams will consist of student athletes from the 3rd-8th grades and will have the opportunity to participate in Saturday tournaments sponsored by area communities. In-House teams, if provided due to number of participants, will consist of student athletes that will participate at a Pine City facility as scheduled.
Traveling Team
The Pine City HOOPs traveling team program participates in The Great Northern Basketball League tournaments in which they provide the scheduling and the league rules/procedures. If a traveling team’s roster is deemed to exceed a roster limit (GNBL suggest 12 players per team) by the Pine City HOOPs Executive Board, the Board reserves the right to reorganize the roster. It is the goal of Pine City HOOPs to allow student athletes participating on the traveling team to experience the best competition available. In doing so, the student athlete will be given the opportunity to enhance his/her skills by participating against student athletes of similar age. The Traveling program requires student athletes to commit to attending practices as scheduled, weekend games and tournament play.
Please refer to the “Traveling Team Program Guidelines” for details.
In-House Team (if available or needed)
The in-house teams are dedicated to skills development of elementary student athletes. Skills development includes but is not limited to teaching the competitive philosophies associated with basketball, dribbling, correct shooting form, etc. In-House teams will not be sponsored to travel and/or participate in tournaments outside of Pine City unless a team petitions Pine City HOOPs to do so.
