Meeting Minutes
October HOOPS meeting
October 7, 2013
Rm 181 PCHS
Opening and introduction by Kim
General announcements of 3rd and 4th grade non-compete leagues' activity.
Kyle Allen introduced the need for constant availability of scoreboards for the HOOPS program, as we have been found without any at times, leaving us to use the flips charts and using stop watches as timers. Nate Stoa and Kyle Allen purchased two (2) scoreboards at $261 each, paid for out of the basketball activities' fund.
Scoreboard option then was made open to have at least one be owned by the HOOPS program, so we would always have at least one.
In uncovering the treasurer's notes, we have a balance of around $6,000 between checking and saving. The opportunity to have a scoreboard would deduct $261 from one of those accounts and credit back to the basketball activities' fund.
Jason R motions to purchase one scoreboard
Kim J seconds motion.
Motion was unanimously agreed to carry.
Hoops will purchase one (1) of the scoreboards from the HSBB program.
Kim proposed the idea of HOOPS coach's kids' registration fees. After batting different schools of thought, the consensus from all in attendance was to cover the registration fee of any children of any HOOPS coach ($35), and the coaches to still cover the jersey costs ($40).
Nate S motioned to have HOOPS cover cost of coach's kids
Kyle A seconded the motion
Motion unanimously passed.
Coaches' children's registration fee will be waived and covered by HOOPS.
Jason R (boys 8th grade coach) states 8th grade boys also play school ball and will be playing a lot of basketball. In their best interest, try to only schedule one or two tournaments. No one had an issue with that.
We established that Jason R would make sure that we follow parliamentary procedure
